About the Founder

Menna Kamel, the founder and manager of Insan Social Marketing, born in Cairo, Egypt; a proud Egyptian and Arab, earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, concentration in marketing and a minor in Psychology degree with highest honors (summa cumme laude) from The American University in Cairo  in 2008. Kamel, has then received her Masters in Business Administration (MBA) as the top honor student of her graduating class in 2010, concentrating in Operations Management and Finance from The American University in Cairo. In the field of academia, Kamel has published a business case study as the first author, titled “Mona El Fadly: Spinning Off the Supply Chain” as part of the Premiere Reference Resource: Cases on Business and Management in the MENA Region- New Trends and Opportunities, publisher IGI Global.

In pursuit of her passion for learning, she joined in 2018 the third and last batch to date of the Presidential Leadership Program (PLP) - the national program affiliated to the Egyptian Presidential Office, and that is organized by the Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Planning, Cairo, Egypt-, by which, She has been selected among the 500 PLP participants from 100,000 applicants from across the nation.


Kamel has studied National Security in Nasser Military Academy, and has Won first place for best research paper presentation among her group, which was titled: “The role of Youth Centers in Developing Sports in Egypt and its Implications on Egypt’s National Security” as part of the PLP.


Furthermore, she has co-led a team that developed and submitted a draft for Egypt’s suggested 2030 Sports’ Strategy. And, has Participated in developing a strategy for the development and capacity building of the Egyptian citizen, which was presented during the 6th National Youth Conference, Cairo University, July 2018 (by which she worked on advocating for breastfeeding as a health priority and on the sports portfolio).


Moreover, she has participated in the National Dialogue for Updating Egypt’s Sustainable Development Strategy, organized by the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform, Cairo, 9-11 June 2019.  


Finally, it is worth noting that she has been selected among a small group to work as part of the marketing team, Egyptian Presidential Media Office during the PLP program.  


Work Experience

Kamel started her work in 2009 as part of the Cairo office team of a communications and design agency that is head quarterd in Washington DC, where her portfolio entailed -for profit- as well as -non profit- clients to craft and deliver creative and persuasive messages for their audiences. Among the client’s she has served were WHO, PAHO and UNICEF.

She has then embarked on her journey in November 2010 with the United Nations as an Independent consultant, for the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) Egypt Country office, where she has developed the organization’s corporate communications strategy; titled “Communications Strategy for UN Women: Egypt Country strategy 2012-2016”.

After successfully developing the strategy, she has joined the UN Women country office team in 2011 to lead the Communications and media unit and implement the strategy. Kamel has been with UN Women since its birth worldwide, where she established and led the Communications and Media Unit in the country office. She managed 3 team members: Communications Associate, Communications and Media Assistant, and ICT and Website Specialist, she also managed and mentored over 20 interns and volunteers during her period of serving at UN Women.

In 2013, she was assigned the development of two communications strategies, adding to her expertise and equipping her with experience in developing and implementing Corporate, Programme and Project level strategies.
